How do plants achieve luminescence? It is understood that injecting fluorescent agents can also make plants glow, but this method is toxic to plants and is unsustainable. This R&D team used genetic programming technology and after 532 iterations, they created the first high-brightness autonomously luminous plant in China. At present, this technology has been maturely applied to a variety of plants.
Li Renhan, Chairman of Hefei Shenbi Biotechnology Co., Ltd.: We plan to release a new product that is brighter than the existing one within this year, which can almost reach the brightness of a mobile phone flashlight. The production line is now being set up and can produce 500,000 plants a month.
